Here is the piece I used to illustrate my “zone in” issues in a previous post with its underpainting in place. See? Doesn’t that first Kudu look better now? I don’t know why but I love the charcoal lines filled in with oil paint look. Maybe I should just start stopping at this stage and claiming it’s just my style. Would be able to finish a lot more paintings in less time, but I’m still a stickler for detail, so that won’t happen any time soon. To follow progress on this work, go here.
